Abstract

The oscillator-modulator circuit has a first oscillator (1) which generates a video carrier at frequency F1 typically 600 MHz and a second oscillator (3) which generates a sub-carrier signal at frequency DELTA F = +- (F1-F2). F2 is the sound carrier frequency. A ring modulator (2) modulates the video carrier with the video signal and the sub-carrier to provide an HF signal S which is applied to the television aerial input. The sub-carrier is modulated by sound signal BF. The use of a sub-carrier provides for greater signal stability and avoids use of expensive oscillator components.
