Abstract

The plug and socket connector has a track length during disconnection sufficiently long and convulated as to minimise the chance of a spark caused by the disconnection, initiating a fire in its immediate surroundings. The plug member carries a tubular shroud (6) extending well forward of the male electrode (3). As the mating electrodes are parted a long path length of the shroud extends around it and around the path presented by the plug and socket outer coupling sheels which remain partly engaged. The shroud is held in position by a threaded bush.
