Abstract
The degree of crosslinking per unit surface area of section of a polymer is measured by stressing the article with a force in a direction normal to that of its movement and measuring the amt. of reaction in the latter direction. The appts. for testing a polythene tube as it is continuously extruded, has a eccentric disc on a rotating shaft and with a ring and ball bearing. The other end of the shaft is that of a motor generator, with a flywheel and ratchet wheel between. Used for continuous determn. during prodn. of e.g. extrusions.
