Abstract

The magnetic reed switch includes a contact housing (3) held in a case (2) with a permenant magnet (4). The magnet is arranged with its poles across the case at right angles to the direction in which the reed switch lies. The magnet holds the reed switch contacts in one of their positions. The 'key' for operating the switch comprises a second permenant magnet (1) of similar size to the first. When this is brought up to the first magnet it is attracted and positioned by the magnetic force. The combined effect of the two magnets changes the reed switch contact positions.
