Abstract

The displacement/pressure progress of the die casting machine is controlled by a pressure intensifier which is designed with a stepped piston to produce a higher pressure near the end of the die casting operation. An annulus in the stepped piston cylinder on the press piston side is at zero pressure. Near the end of the stepped piston movement, the annulus is loaded by a preset pressure. This achieves a rapid finishing pressure and prevents any overshoot of the finishing pressure beyond the stationary value. A mould change does not require any change in the pressure of the accumulator which feeds the stepped piston.
