Abstract

The receiving antennal for sonal equipment comprise several hydrophones arranged in geometrical patterns. Signals arriving from a particular direction are formed into channels by a sampling system. Several non-directional hydrophones (C) receiving sonar signals have gating circuits(P) at their outputs whose opening is controlled by sampling signals (E) from a time base or clock (11). An OR-gate (12) allows signals to pass to an analogue-to-digital convertor (13) which generates binary word for each sample. An interpolation circuit (35) processes binary words by adding further binary samples to form signals for the different channels.
