Abstract

The fluid flow measuring meter includes a chamber housing two toothed wheels (26, 28) between inlet and outlet pipes(22, 24). The wheels are mounted on axles at right angles to the flow of liquid, so that their teeth (38) mesh together. One tooth of each wheel is always in contact with the respective outer wall of the chamber. The flow of fluid is divided as it enters the chamber, so that it is directed towards the teeth in contact with the chamber walls. As the liquid flows through the chamber, the two meshing wheels are turned in opposite directions. The speed of rotation of one wheel is determined as a measure of the rate of flow.
