Abstract

A turbo-compressor has a single cantilever rotor mounted on a shaft(1) which runs in bearings(4, 5). The single rotor incorporates a centrifugal compressor(2) and an axial flow turbine (3). The gas flowing to the turbine(3) passes between fixed blades(7) which impart an initial switch to the gas. This combination rotor simplifies the designa dn provides earlier access to the barings. In addition the seal diameter(10) between the compressor and turbine flow paths is so chosen that the pressures are the same on both sides so that there is no leakage.
