Abstract
The bunker is of the type which uses as its base a flat, inclined conveyor which is extended beyond both end walls of the bunker. The lower, upstream end of the conveyor proves an inlet for water draining from the bunker. The upper, downstream extension of the conveyor passes beneath a transverse discharge slot which is formed at the lower end of the bunker's, upper end wall. A distribution drum is now fitted above the conveyor band, extending axially across the width of the band in the discharge slot and rotating in the direction of conveyed material. the conveyor bed extension beyond the upper end wall is pref. perforated for water drainage. A spring-loaded compression roller is pref. fitted across the top of the conveyor band downstream of the distribution drum. At the delivery end of the conveyor, a powerdriven, toothed, breaker roll is pref. fitted across the top of the band. Used for receiving and breaking down rubbish ready for incineration or mixing into compost. Partic. for the disposal of wet rubbish such as that raked out of screening grills at the inlet to a waste water treatment plant. The bunker can handle random sized rubbish including timber, rags and carrion. With blockage of the outlet, the discharged rubbish is pressure drained and delivered at an even flow of pieces of acceptable size.
