Abstract

The driven member comprises a drum and the driving member carries a lever which can swing about a shaft mounted on the driving member. The outer surface of the drum constitutes a friction surface. A second friction surface is provided by a zone on the lever. When the driving member rotates, the lever (12) pivots due to centrifugal force on mass (18) so that frictional zone (15) engages the outer surface of drum (14) so that the drive is transmitted. The arms of lever (12) are arranged so as to multiply the centrifugal force at its point of application on the drum.
