Abstract

A ring is used to separate the equipment giving thrust power for boring and the end of the pipe which bores into the ground, on being thrust. The ring (11) is divided in the direction of thrust of the boring operation. The ring can be divided into complete discs (20) or into segments (20'). When segments are used, the joints between them (22) are staggered in the direction of thrust, between adjacent rings made up of several segments. The joints are also spaced so as not to be in direct line with the thrust elements themselves. The ring assembly is made to be rigid, to resist the thrust.
