Abstract
Two counters (13, 22) are provided in a digital position-measuring device having an incremental scale, an adjustable reading unit (1) for photoelectric scanning of this scale, and a variation stage (5) which controls a display or control device (14). One counter (13) can be set automatically to zero via a mark on the scale and a resetting control device when the mark is passed over by the reading unit. Provided for the second counter (22) is a zeroing key (23) which permits the counter (22) to be reset to zero at any point, so that one counter (13) operates from a fixed zero point and the other counter (22) operates from an arbitrarily selectable zero point. The counters (13, 22) can optionally be connected to a display or control device (14) by a changeover switch (25). An emergency power supply device is provided so as to obtain the selected zero point for the arbitrarily settable counter (22) even in the case of power failure or in the case of the measuring device being switched off.
