Abstract

The arrangement is intended for signalling a failure in the drive on an IC engine coolant pump, partic. in a motor vehicle, having a common drive for the coolant pump and an electrical generator (11). It responds to the voltage at the output terminals of the generator when this voltage falls below a pre-determined value corresponding with an engine speed no more than the idling speed. The response voltage may be chosen such that, in the event of generator excitation failure during normal operation, the remanant voltage suffices to prevent response as long as engine speed exceeds a predetermined value.
