Abstract

The heat energy in the exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine (1) can be utilised by using electro-thermic cells (3) which transform the heat into electrical energy by means of the Peltier effect. The electrical energy can be used to drive an electric motor (4) which supplements the power of the engine or it may be used to charge the battery (5) which powers the auxiliary equipment. The heat may alternatively be used to cause dissociation of water and use the hydrogen which is liberated to augment the fuel supply.
