Abstract

The accelerator section is made up from a number of equally sized closed loops placed in series. Each loop consists of an outer belt passing over rollers. The inner belt runs inside the loop of the outer belt and passes over equal sized rollers. One of the rollers is a driver and the belt passes over rows of small rollers under the top surface. Fixed distance pieces cover the gap in between successive rollers. The drive is taken up by the weight of persons on the pavement which bring the inner and outer belts into contact.
