Abstract

The composite framed door panel (2) has a contiguous sandwich construction completely filling the volume defined by the frame (7). The frame members may have an assymetric 'T' section with the leg (7a) internal to define a volume occupied by a slab (3) of wound insulating material. Two plaster-boards, fit in the spaces defined by the bars (7b, 7c), a fire resistant membrane (10) being used to encase the two central layers (3, 4). The membrane may be of asbestos or glass fibre, and the constituent layers being unbonded and contained by fascia sheets (8, 9).
