Abstract

The soil for growing and cultivating plants is warmed by using the heat from the waste water of a nuclear power station. This is fed into a header (D) for distribution to smaller pipes (2) buried in the ground, the water passing into the return header (C). Irrigation pipes are laid parallel to the heating pipes, the return header water being distributed through holes (14) along the tops. Pumps and valves (4C, 4D, 6C, 6D) control the flow in the pipes and temp. detectors regulate pumps and valves. Protective cloches (15) are supplied, these being movable and erected over the plants (12).
