Abstract

The ultrasonic underwater detector is designed to sense obstacles and to measure the distance from them. The detector is entirely autonomous as it incorporates a transmitter, an echo receiver, counters, electronic sequential control circuits, transducer, distance display, and battery within the same water sealed envelope. The volume and mass of the detector are such that it will float in case of an unexpected fall into water. The envelope of the detector has a hand grip. The envelope being in the form of a pistol. The front face of the envelope carries the transmitter-receiver. The rear face turned towards the operator carries the distance display unit as well as a pushbutton for actuating the detector.
