Abstract

The combined window sill and air vent with sound insulation and dust-filters is for a double glazed window. In section the sill is of a horizontally elongated rectangular form with the bottom (2) and top (1) walls formed by the webs of an inverted 'U' section and a 'U' section resp. A layer of insulating material (4, 3) is on the inner face of each 'U' section (1, 2) and transverse spacer blocks at intervals maintain them apart. A gap (17) exists between the two insulating layers (3, 4) and the sill is thus traversed by a series of horizontal passages. A dust filter (8) is at the interior extremity of the passages and the air outlets may be controlled by a sliding shutter (9). The top section (1) may cantilever over the bottom one (2) at the inlet (5) end to provide a baffled inlet (6) protected against driving rain and wind.
