Abstract
The collector panel has a face exposed to the sun and a face directed inwards of the building on which it is installed. The panel heats a thermal energy store in the building via a heat-carrying fluid circuit. Air passes through the store to heat the building and the air supply to the store is linked with an air circulation over the lower face of the panel. Pref. the panel forms part of the roof of the building, and a chimney leads from the lower part of the store to the lower part of the panel. As heat losses on the underside of the panel are to the heating air, the need for thermal insulation beneath the panel is removed. In summer, heat transmitted to the air beneath the panel causes it to rise, thus drawing air up the chimney. This avoids overheating of the panel and also serves to ventilate the building.
