Abstract
A device for interlacing a continuous multifilament yarn comprises a body of metal or other appropriate material with a semi-cylindrical hole passing through it which serves as a resonance chamber. The fluid is fed through two pipes or delivery tubes which direct the flow tangentially to the curved wall of the hole. The fluid jets create maximum turbulence for the interlacing of the filaments of the yarn. Known devices are constructed to cause the fluid jet to strike the yarn directly, setting up considerable friction which may give rise to serious damage, or to interlaced filaments of poor quality. By not allowing a direct contact, such difficulties are avoided, although the device provides a satisfactory interlacing effect. The device provides a compact, coherent yarn with interlaced, entangled filaments, without resorting to expensive twisting operations.
