Abstract

Bases for solar energy traps are moulded as single blocks of rigid insulating material complete with complementary mortice and tenon profiles along opposite edges. The edge profiles allow banks of traps to be assembled side by side without use of independent fastenings which could act as thermal bridges to cause heat loss. The face of the base is stepped for locating covers, liq. circulation ducts etc. Suitable for use on flat, inclined or vertical surfaces, e.g. roofs, swimming pool terraces, etc. without requiring ancillary flashing for waterproofing the joints between adjacent traps. The borders of sets of traps may be held by bars with matched motice or tenon profiles.
