Abstract

The wall fixing is fired into the holding material by means of a pyrotechnic charge. It is in the form of a cylinder (14), its rear face threaded (18) to receive a head or stud. Its front portion has a pointed nose, this being a double taper (12, 16) composed of two acute angles for greater penetration; the leading half-angle (alpha) is less than 30 deg., the half-angle (beta) behind varies between 0 deg. 30' and 3 deg. The projectile is placed in a chamber and, when the charge is fired, the gases propel the wall fixing. The spent gases then escape through vents to minimise recoil.
