Abstract

The grinding and polishing machine is for tools, esp. hard metal chisels. The axes of rotation of the grinding disc and polishing disc are parallel and arranged on a support which moves on the machine frame. The support can move between two operating positions in which one of the two discs is applied to the tool. There are setting micrometers (34,36) for adjusting the automatic feed for the tool faces and the corresponding disc work face in each operating position of the support (2,32). This compensates differences in the disc dimensions and eliminates danger of damaging the tool (5,35) and the discs (3,4) on transferring from one operating position into the other. One disc has an axis of rotation which can be moved axially between two given positions to bring the two working faces of one of the discs into the place of the machining face of the other disc.
