Abstract

The dry-shaver has a flywheel which is used to give motive power. The flywheel is spun up by hand traction on a draw-cord (14). A free-wheel (10) with multiplication gearing (9) converts the displacement of the cord into motor rotation, and the cord (14) is returned to its original position by a spring. The motor may include a 'binding' free-wheel which comprises a flywheel (4) on a roller (6) with an oblique bearing ramp (7). The flywheel (4) has a hollow into which the roller is wedged. The recoil spring extends between a flywheel recess and the major pinion (10), and may be bent into a zigzag formation at the former extremity. The major pinion (10) may rotate freely on an axle (11) which spans between the housing and an intermediate floating frame. The starting cord (14) may be wound in a circumferential groove (13) in the major pinion, and the axle (11) may be of plastics.
