Abstract

The parting-off tool for a lathe consists of a rectangular piece of plate which is slightly thinner than the width (3) of the cutting tip (2). The L-shaped cutting tip is held on the inclined surface (4) of a recess cut out of the corner of the plate by a lever (7) which pivots on a pin (9). The lever is of U-shaped cross-section and fits over an area of the plate of reduced thickness so that its outer surfaces are flush with the plate surfaces. A bush (8) with eccentric flanges and a central hexagonal hole fits in a slot with rounded ends in the plate. When the bush is rotated, the flanges exert a force on the one end of the lever so that the other end (11) clamps the cutting edge against the surface (4).
