Abstract

The combined tower and portal crane comprises a set of individual cranes, each having a tower with jib and tail-weight. The individual cranes (2, 2a) are so equipped that their hoist mechanisms can be operated simultaneously, in order toi lift a load equal to the sum of their separate capacities. Each crane can have a support, on which the jib of another one can rest, and they can have slewing towers. Jibs can be fixed in the horizontal position or arranged to derrick up and down, and each tailweight (4, 4a) can be mounted at the same level as its respective jib (5, 5a). One of the cranes can be a double coupled one with two towers and two jibs, while the other has a pair of supports on which these jibs rest. The jib of the second crane fits between the two on the first.
