Abstract

The housing for a fluorescent light fitting has its end pieces (3) fitted by combining lugs in slots and spot welding. It is made from sheet metal, its centre body folded to a top-hat section. Each end piece has a main flange, similar to the centre body, with smaller flanges located around the outside of the body. The horizontal flanges (12) have two lugs (15, 16) bent to form joggles (17) and fitting into corresponding slots (9, 10) in the centre body. The main flange has similar lugs (20, 22) on each side piece, overlapping and spot welded onto the main flange (4) each side of the centre body.
