Abstract

A device for deoxidising sample taking systems for baths of molten metal, of the type having a sampling bottle, a filling pipe and a holder, is provided with deoxidising materials. These are in the form of a small tube pressed into a metal cooling body positioned in the line of motion of the molten metal at the inlet of or inside the sampling arrangement. The cooling body is of a material the m.pt. of which is higher than that of aluminium. The arrangement makes it unnecessary to put in an excess of deoxidising agent. By delaying the melting away of the deoxidising agents, a satisfactory distribution of the agents can be obtained.
