Abstract
The pivoting sentinel post prevents unauthorised use of a private car-parking space and is operated by electronics from a post mounted control box with numbered push buttons. The control box is sited by the car space, is accessible by reacting through a car window, and requires a unique number to be dialled to control the sentinel. The sentinel (9) stands erect in the parking space when active, and pivots into a horizontal inactive ground position. The drive mechanism (7) may inc. a con-rod which is pinned to the foot of the post (9) and which is mounted on a slide. Two electro-magnets (5, 8) resp. applying traction and thrust, motivate the slide. A further subsidiary electro-magnet serves to lock the post in the active position. Classic electronic control may be deployed with a weather-proof illuminated control box and push-button assembly.
