Abstract

The shape detection device gives a precise indication of the outlines of a body, and particularly a human one during transcutaneous radiotherapy. A detector produces a coincidence signal each time it encounters a point on the outline, this being used to control movement of the detector from one point to the next along portions of an analysis curve of pre-determined shape. The coordinates of the detection points are indicated and recorded. The detector can be so mounted that its detection axis is in the plane of the outline, swivelling in this plane. The movement drive can be arranged to make a definite movement in relation to coordinate lines in the plane of the outline and to rotate in the plane round a proximity position.
