Abstract

The hydraulic disc brake has at least one disc axially floatingly connected to a shaft and correspondingly at least one pressure plate connected axially movable to a housing filled with cooling oil. The pressure plate is urged axially against the disc by a hydraulic cylinder which is concentric with the shaft. The connection between the plate and the housing is by an annular array of pins each having a head including a ramp engaging a corresponding ramp on the housing. When the brake is applied a small amount of sliding of the ramp provides mechanical augmentation of the hydraulic pressure.
