Abstract
The points changing mechanism is able to maintain position without displacement due to mechanical strain when it receives return forces from the points. This is achieved using rectilinear cams with pulleys. Two rectilinear cams (1, 2) are connected at one end to the points to hold changing blades (6) against the rails (8). The cam profiles (13, 14) fac eone another and pulleys (10, 11) move about a fixed axis (12) to roll along each profile. Both cams are connected by rods (21, 22) to energy storage springs (15, 16) compressed by a motor (26) to provide a delay to mechanical movement.
