Abstract

The device (17) for extracting oil from the air in the crankcase of a diesel engine is in the form of two cones (22, 23) joined together at their bases. One end (18) is connected to the crankcase and the other end (20) is connected to the inlet of the engine supercharger. Each half of the device contains a number of baffles (30) on which the droplets of oil impinge and then flow out through the drain (33). A heat exchanger (25) in the middle of the device is cooled by water supplied through the inlet (26), and causes oil vapour to condense and flow out through the drain (33).
