Abstract

The bent steel plate (1) is cast into concrete so that as the concrete hardens, fine cracks along the surface align themselves in a regular aesthetic manner, instead of haphazardly. The plate has a flat vertical part with a small raised vee and large vee sticking out horizontally (5). The sides of the large vee are drilled with two large upper holes and two small lower holes in vertical alignment. The plate is positioned before the concrete pour by two vertical supports (3) which pass through the holes and rest on a base (4) on the ground (2). The springiness in the plate locks it in position on the rods at the desired height. Both the plate and the supports remain buried in the concrete after it has been poured.
