Abstract

The barrel lock has a cylindrical body (1) with radial annular grooves (3). The lock is closed by a stopper (5) at one end with a central slot for the key. The inside of the lock consists of axially aligned washers (7) fixed together by rivets with a central slot for the key. End washers (10,11) fix the inside rotor and one washers (11) is axially sprung. Contoured discs (20) are positioned between the washers with a slot the size of the outside dimensions of the key. The slots and contours are arranged so that when the correct key is inserted, the discs clear each of their corresponding grooves in the cylinder wall and the lock is free to be pushed in against the spring and turned.
