Abstract

The free-cutting machine e.g. a chain saw, has a handle on a stem with the cutting head at one end and a driving engine at the other. A mounting is provided for a supporting belt worn by the user, being designed so that it can be released quickly if the engines catches fire. The mounting fits partly inside a cavity in the handle and has a holder portion protruding from the cavity for engagement by the belt. This portion is movable into a position releasing the belt from the machine. The mounting can slide into the cavity having a handle at one end by which it is pulled out.
