Abstract

A heat pump for room air conditioning to suit summer to winter conditions, has a refrigeration unit which circulates the refrigeration fluid permanently in the units in succession acting as heat exchangers through which fresh air and stale air is passed, with flaps controlling the flow, depending on the prevailing climatic conditions. The fluid is condensed at the outlet of the last unit to be vaporised by a further heat exchanger to complete the circuit. Fresh air passing through a filter is forced through the first heat exchanger and selectively through the relevant flaps and heat exchangers in counterflow to the stale air. Control devices switch in auxiliary heaters as required.
