Abstract
The two circuit brakes are powered by a stepped bore master brake cylinder in which the two different sizes of piston are not rigidly linked together. The smaller piston (4) can move away from the larger piston (3) and only rests against a spring loaded extension (22) of the larger piston when the brakes are released. The system provides a secure braking control in the event of circuit failure, without overbraking on the remaining circuit. The rear wheels are supplied from the small dia. cylinder, so that the front is braked harder.
