Abstract

The threads (4) on the textile loom roller (2) each have a lever underneath, comprising a pivoted (6) flat strip. One arm is bent upwards and has an end roller (3) bearing on the thread. The other arm (5) is cut away (8) to locate the end (9) of a coil spring (7); the other end is anchored to the machine. As thread tension varies, so does that in the spring; this is measured electronically and a variable speed box adjusted to keep the tension constant. If a thread breaks, the arrangement energieses an electromagnetic brake to stop the machine. Photoelectric cells or potentiometers may replace the spring.
