Abstract

The locking mechanism for covers on wells, gratings etc. is of the type in which the cover or grating is locked onto the surrounding frame by means of a screw mechanism which cannot be accidentally undone. A bolt (6) is provided and passes through the cover (2), a lock nut (15) being provided at the lower end of the bolt. A threaded sleeve (13) with an arm (14) is received on the bolt, the arm being prevented from rotating by its engagement with the wall of a groove in the bottom of the frame (1). The head (18) of the bolt is received in a recess in the cover.
