Abstract

The error measuring system, for digital transmissions, uses auxiliary channels each provided with an auxiliary regenerator associated with a signal generator. The last signal generator output is such that the output of the last regenerator has an error rate that is a function of the error rate of the output of the first regenerator and of a parameter associated with the last signal generator. A comparator compares the output of adjacent regenerators. The advantage of this method lies in its being independent of transmitted signal and in being quicker than existing methods using test signals or redundant signals.
