Abstract

The lighting unit is particularly for use as a safety lamp, having a tubular casing enclosing the light proper and closed at the ends by caps, one of which is removable. The light is mounted on a baseplate running from one end of the casing to the other and connected to the caps. The other cap is sealed by means of a joint to the end of the casing, and on the end of the baseplate is a locking device securing it and the cap together. The locking device can be released by a control at the other end of the baseplate, accessible when the first cap is removed.
