Abstract

A vehicle suspension system incorporates the shock absorbers in the wheel itself, and allows solid tyres to be used. The rim of the wheel consists of an outer rim (2) and an inner rim (3) with leaf springs (1) between them. Both rim portions are of shallow U shaped cross section, with the open ends of the U's facing each other. The leaf springs are curved, and of flat material, with the ends attached to the rims by clamps (7, 8) secured by bolts (9) passing through. The springs face the direction of travel of the vehicle, and their thickness is selected to suit the weight of the vehicle.
