Abstract

The sprocket is provided with a bearing bush having an oil seal at each end and rotates on a hollow spindle. The sprocket boss is provided with two rows of radial holes which emerge close to the surface of the sprocket disc. The spindle is provided with a central hole and two radial holes which lie in the planes of the holes in the sprocket. The radial holes in the spindle are staggered by an angle equal to half the angular pitch of the sprocket teeth. Oil is pumped into the central hole and as the shaft rotates oil is forced through each radial hole in turn to lubricate the chain.
