Abstract
Appts. for cleaning dialysers for artificial kidneys incorporates an electronic time-switch and a programmer which operate valves in pipes connected to the blood and dialysate circuits, and to a water supply and containers of wash liq. and sterilisation liq. The containers have a transparent wall. There are supports for the dialysers, press. regulators, and indicators which show the different phases of the cleaning cycle. The water-pipe has two branches, each with a Venturi mixer, one connected to the wash liq. container and the other to the sterilisation liq. container. The programmer divides the cycle into phases - washing the blood and dialysate circuits with water, washing the dialysate circuit with diluted hydrogen peroxide three times and following each time with a water-wash of both circuits and finally circulating a sterilisation liq. pref. formol. The cycle can be extended if necessary. The invention permits simple safe and automatic washing and sterilisation of several dialysers at once, thus extending their use, which is important because they are relatively costly.
