Abstract

The machine provides automatic insertion and setting of motor laminations, particularly the stator assemblies of high power output alternators. The types of machines envisaged are those requiring about 400,000 such laminations. The assembly machine is co-axial to the frame of the stator into which the laminations are inserted, support and rotation being provided by sets of rollers. Automatic centering and rotation are powered from d.c. motor reduction gearing. The design allows for differing lamination patterns by having variable positioning and number of lamination stores which feed the insertion mechanism. The overall operation is cyclic and partly pneumatically operated.
