Abstract
The coupling delays the acceleration to full speed of machines with high inertia, being particularly for use between a squirrel-cage motor and a centrifuge. An annular weir (4) connects the working area of the turbine wheel (2) and the reserve chamber (3) accommodating the spare fluid. This collects the slip flow fluid and returns it direct to the chamber. The portion of the turbine wheel working area, in which there are no blades, can be used as the reserve chamber. The design is simple and cheap to produce, and provides a self-regulating effect. A long working life is achieved whilst operating under conditions of maximum efficiency.
