Abstract

The crankshaft for I.C. engines is made in two separable parts. The first part (1) is an integral component comprising a bearing pin (3), a crank arm (5) and a crank pin (6) for the connecting rod of the engine piston. The crank arm has a diametrically opposite the crank pin a balance mass the side of the balance mass remote from the crank pin there is formed an eccentric (8) for the connecting rod of a mass balance piston. The second part (2) comprises the crank arm (10), balance mass and bearing pin (4) necessary to complete the crankshaft. The crankpin is a heavy interference fit in the opposing flywheel half.
