Abstract

The machine tool has a column (6) at 90 deg. to the work table (24). On one side is a rotary magazine (15), holding tools (18) around its periphery. The axis of this magazine is at 90 deg. to the machine spindle (9) and a curved track (35) joins the two together. A carriage (31) run on the track and carries a double tool clamp (32). It is hydraulically operated and first picks a tool (B) out of the magazine. The carriage traverses to the spindle, advances and removes the old tool (A). The clamp rotates, inserts the new tool and returns along the track to replace the used tool in the magazine.
